Sichuan Dining Room - Review - Chinatown

The Sichuan Dining Room (194-200 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000) is not for the faint hearted.  Its basically chilli everything here in a good way.  Make no mistake the red stands for chilli.
This place is not really a finedining establishment.  Its perfect for a worktime lunch or before going out to the footy or before going to the movies.  It also has very good food, so much so that I overdosed and that is despite all the chilly.
Pleasant enough surroundings for Chinatown
The dried hot chilli fast fried green beans is a classic dish you get in many Chinese restaurants.  Its also one of my favourites and this comes highly recommended.  Its also nice having something other than mixed vegetables or bok choy when at a Chinese restaurant.

This is a cold dish and is basically a mixture of offal with sesame oil and chilli and peanuts.  Am I selling you?  Well probably not but this is a truly stupendous dish and reallly tatses fantastic.  I could eat this all the time.  Its that good.
Looking good, well I guess that's in the eye of the beholder but trust me you should really try this.
Chilli dumplings.  Well sorry I warned you but this place is chilli everything.  All I can say is that the quality of the food here is great across the board.

Again, the chilli chicken with peanuts is also great.  Too be honest here is hard to describe how dishes taste different when they all have chilli.  this is another winner though.

  1. ay ay ay - not for this Samoan, thanks.

based on your introduction of the aiga to the hot fish soup place in Chinatown, i'm sure the wife and children will be right behind you.
