Thanh Han - Review - Little Saigon Market, Footscray

Thanh Han (73 Nicholson Street, FootscrayVIC 3011) on the edge of Little Saigon Market is one of those unassuming Vietnemese eateries you'll find littered all over Footscray. They are everywhere. As is usual this kind of food establishment is really about convenience and you being there at the right time for them, ie, you are going to the market to do some fruit and vegetable shopping.

As you can see Thanh Han has the typical layout and look for this kind of place.  Its neither bad nor good.  'Functional' is a word that springs to mind and given the environment, its at a market after all its perfectly fine.

The stewed pork with is okay.  The pork is a bit dry but ts flavoursome and hearty so its better than passable but only just.

The deep fried fish is one of those funny fresh water fishes that you find in all the Asian restaurants. It delivers on its promise, its pretty cheap after all but its pretty utilitarian.  Presentation wise they always look tempting when you are at the market.  Its nice enough with a bit of sweet chilly sauce.  It is what it is so no complaints from me.

The tofu with pork and chilli vegetables is typical food court Asian.  I can't complain and it tastes pretty good.

A problem I did have with the place is that there is no pricing and you do get the feeling that based on the appearance of the customer that prices fluctuate up or down.  This is a feeling I got and it did seem overpriced for what we got.
