The Beachcomber Cafe - Review - St Kilda

The Beachcomber restaurant review, St Kilda, Melbourne by Howie's Melbourne Food Blog It has to be said that any cafes or restaurants with a waterfront view are a trap for tourists and casual visitors alike. As most visitors to Melbourne know, St Kilda is a must visit.

Beachcomber Cafe overlooks St Kilda beach and as such is on some prime real estate. On a sunny day it really is a great spot just to people watch and enjoy the moment. At any other moment its spot still commands your attention but the cafe is more for the tourist, family or backpacker looking for great value for money. On that front for someone with a healthy appetite I'd suggest the all you can eat buffet as you can the staple bacon, egg, sausages, etc, pastries, coffee, tea, fruit, basically everything to get you started for the day.

Anyway, as it caters for the family the menu contains all the regular items, scrambled eggs, big breakfast, bacon and eggs, Spanish omelette, fruit toast, muesli, a variety of pancakes, fruit juice (standard and fresh), smoothies, a selection of T2 tea, a kids menu. The quality is good but  not exceptional and contains no unique flavours. However, its pricing is moderate so to enjoy the prime view (if you can get there early enough) I still recommend it.

I had the Spanish omelette. Its presentation is okay and all the ingredients you expect are there. Roasted red peppers, Spanish onions,  olives herbs and mozarella cheese. However, it doesn't rise above its component parts and does not have that x factor flavour. Again for the price I cannot complain.
