Plume - Review - Doncaster

Plume (546 Doncaster Rd  Doncaster VIC 3108) is a Chinese restaurant in Doncaster.  I'm a novice in Doncaster so there may be more or better Chinese restaurants around.  Not that Plume is bad, its just that it is average.  The more customers at a Chinese restaurant the better so that it never reached capacity for yum cha is probably a negative.

As far as Chinese restaurants go, Plume is attractively furnished.  In fact, its probably one the the most attractive Chinese restaurants you are going to find.  Its good that they haven't been ostentatious either. Its decorated in a modern elegant manner.  Well done.
The service is also good at Plume.  Good service can never be counted on in a Chinese restaurant so for appearance and service Plume has you covered.

Ultimately though its all about the food.  Most Chinese customers are willing to pay that bit extra or travel that tiny bit further if they know that the food is good.  Unfortunately, the food at Plume is okay but never exceptional.
Pork spareribs
There is a good selection of your usual yum cha fare at Plume so you should be able to get whatever you desire.  Did I say chicken feet?
Ginger chilli tripe
Anyway, to sum up, if you live around Doncaster and have never tried yum cha before, Plume is worth a visit.  For a seasoned yum cha diner its still worth going but you will be going in knowing you'll be getting good but never great food.
