Church St Enoteca - Review - Richmond

Enoteca in Richmond (527 Church Street) is an Italian inspired restaurant on the edge of Richmond

Enoteca is not exactly in the main drag so unless advertised by friends its probably populated by locals.  Hopefully I'm wrong as this would be a shame as its nicely modern on the inside and has excellent food.  It did seem pretty busy on the Friday night I was there.
Complimentary fresh bread and olive oil is a nice touch and always goes down well.  Enoteca is definitely off to a good start.
The baked figs stuffed with goats curd, two year proscuitto, aged balsamic and grilled flatbread is a nice take on the general cured meat platter.  Its something slightly different and will be remembered.  Whether you like the baked figs will be your call but I liked it.
Hiramasa kingfish crudo, thinly sliced kingfish served raw with red onion and scallop salsa, peperonata, micro leaves and green tomato chutney.  This is kind of an alternative or renamed carpaccio.  Anyway, it fits perfectly into the type of food I really enjoy.  Maybe a bit too much oil but all up I was very satisfied.
The rabbit loin wrapped in lardo, rabbit leg cacciatore, spinach cannelloni, artichoke frito and fregola is an acquired taste.  Basically if you don't like rabbit stay clear.  However, if you feel a bit more challenged...in a good way, this was very nice and a standout dish.  i recommend it but not for th faint hearted.
The roasted duck breast, port and plum braised duck leg, duck liver parfait, fennel, witloof and orange and oregano gel is probably a bit more classic and styled that contemporary way we all see on Masterchef and even My Kitchen Rules these days.  Needless to sya this was very good.
I'm getting lazy here but will just say that the dessert was interesting and nice.  The little bits of popcorn aren't going to be everyone's cup of tea but you do get original here and that has got to be positively valued.  Don't let this pout you off though as overall the dessert was very good.

A bit innocuos from the outside but definitely pleasureable once it make it inside and the service and food are great.
