The Tea Room - Review - National Gallery of Victoria

The Tea Room  at the National Gallery of Victoria seems a favourite with the women.  I guess a glass or jug of beer appeals more to the guys.  I didn't go for the whole spread that definitely looks far more impressive and worthwhile if you are making the effort to come to the Tea Room.

The cakes are all suitable impressive but not outstandingly so.  Given the anticipation I would say they are a bit of a let down.  There are definitely more outstanding cake shops around but of course they do not happen to be in the NGV.

I liked the presentation of the tea and there is a good selection.  However, if you are really on the search for a great tea I believe the specialist tea shops popping up around the place in Melbourne would be a better choice.

For such  a place you would kind of like the cups and saucers to be more outstanding.  I think I'm sounding extreme but if you come for something atleast a tiny bit special you expect as much. I definitely mark the tea Room down on this front.

Where's the nice cup and saucer?
If you couldn't tell I think this place is average.  It's better than probably quite a few but then its marketing and image implies a higher standard and I'm afraid nI do not believe it delivers.
A bit bland in appearance
