Minh Minh - Review - Richmond

There are a multitude of Vietnamese restaurants in Richmond. This is both a blessing and a curse. How do you select a restaurant when you are a casual visitor to the area? Generally its pot luck or the tried and tried 'go where everybody else is'. As a semi-frequent visitor I fall into the follow the crowd bucket or the 'its looks nice on the outside'.

A modern environment mixing with a bit of the old

To stand out of the crowd is hard to do when providing Vietnamese food in Richmond. Today I'd say that Minh Minh is one of those. It isn't spectacular but its still above a great multitude of others. A problem tends to be that all Vietnamese restaurants basically have the same menu. Its nice if they do have something different or original. Thankfully Minh Minh has a specials menu which sets it apart.


The pandan chicken sounds enticing. Its what I call interesting. I don't really know what my expectations were but I enjoyed them. The presentation is great and you won't find them anywhere else

The beef in vine leaves really stands apart. The crushed peanuts and flavours are out of this world. This is a must have and really wants you to order another serving or have them again the next time you are around a Vietnamese restaurant.

Finally, the hotpot which was average. It seemed to be just like a Chinese stir fry so a bit of a let down after the great entrees. I guess you can't have everything in life.
