The Boatshed Restaurant - Review - Ballarat

It is always nice to get out of Melbourne for a break. Ballarat is almost a perfect distance. Not too close to make it run of the mill and not so far away as to make it an obstacle.  It also has a few great things for the tourist. I'd suggest you make it to Sovereign Hill and also the Art Gallery of Ballarat. Both well worth the visit.

One of my favourite spots in Ballarat is Lake Wendouree but in particular the Boatshed Restaurant. With picturesque views of the lake and being outside the town centre it is a great spot. If you are a bit of a planner I recommend booking a table as you may not get another opportunity until your next visit.

The food is immaculately presented, the interior design modern with an old school charm and pleasant customer service. Everything is just kind of right. There is also a nice fireplace if its a wintery night and you can get a table close enough.

The steak with sweet potato stack and fresh beans has the look and tastes just as good. The sweet potato stack is nicely caramelised and crispy on the outside but still nicely firm on the inside. Coupled with an entree Greek salad I am very happy indeed. In fact the Greek salad is an extremely large proportion and certainly more than ample for two people. More importantly its so nice you just keep on eating it.

The seafood pasta is equally as good. Fresh served seafood that is still firm and sweet. Again it is a well presented dish that both looks and tastes great. Fresh parmesan tops it off nicely. Its a rich dish but not overpowering.
