This is a quick update to tell you that a fantastic cafe called the Green Refectory is worth a visit in Brunswick, Melbourne. Brunswick is a suburb kind of like the Smith St or Brunswick St areas in inner city Melbourne.
Anyway, the Green Refectory certainly doesn't look that special from the outside. In fact, it is very tempting just to keep on walking past. This however is one of those cases where looks can be deceiving.
It's kind of an indie type of cafe and certainly has lots of the younger crowd although it really is for everyone. It has a bit of interesting artwork inside and also a narrow outdoor dining area that is a great spot if you can get one. This certainly seems to be the hot spot in Brunswick. Did I say it was busy!
Anyway, it has lots of healthy looking salads, great cakes and biscuits and more significant meals that are a bit more typical of a standard cafe. However, they really do mix it up so I am sure you can find something that will take your fancy. The food really is on the healthy side but fortunately it is packed with flavour and the selection is very wide ranging. Put it this way, compared to most cafe's the salad choice would be in the magnitude of four times.
I forgot to take any pictures of the food so I am afraid you will have to make do with some interior shots. Rest assured that you will get to see some of their great food as I am going to make the trip back there because the food was really really good.
