Xpresso Mondo - Review - Degraves St (CBD)

Xpresso Mondo (33 Degraves St, Melbourne VIC 3000) in Degraves Street has a prime location.  It's a Mecca for tourists and commuters from Flinders Street Station.  It's always nice going to a popular area even if it's just for the vibe.  Does Xpresso Mondo have what it takes?

Degraves Street in general isn't for fine dining although there is one good restaurant upstairs that I quite like.  Anyway, I digress.  It can get very crowded around Degraves but this adds to the atmosphere.  It's probably not an ideal location on the colder and wetter nights and days but that doesn't seem to stop the crowds.

Xpresso Mondo like many cafes and bars in tourist locations tend to survive on foot traffic, vibe and general location.  Xpresso Mondo pretty much fits the theme.  You get satisfactory food in a continental or Italian themed style.  It does the job so to speak but it is unlikely you are going to leave going, wow! what a great dish.

So really, Xpresso Mondo is a place to meet up with friends and chew the fat.  You'll enjoy the atmosphere and know you are in one of the trendiest and popular places even if the food doesn't show it.  Enjoy the company of your friends and treat the food as an accompaniment.
