Feddish - Review - Federation Square

Feddish is perfectly located for the young at heart crowd, passerbys and tourists.  Being in Federation Square and facing the Yarra River has got its benefits.

Feddish I guess could be described best as offering pub styled food.  Nothing too astonishing on the menu but something for everyone.  It's not trying to make a statement.  It's really a place perfect for sunny weekends and nights during summertime.  A nice place to chat with friends and relax without breaking the bank.

The mixed platter is deceptively attractive in this photograph.  The platter was okay the the pickles were very very sour and the dip was shall we say, very average.

The mixed platter looks good though.

The grilled Tasmanian salmon with ratatouille and chat potatoes isn't bad.  A bit of care on cooking the salmon would have helped the presentation (see below).  It's not going to set the world on fire but this was quite nice.

The middle eastern inspired chicken with tabouli and baba ghanoush sounds quite of exotic but sadly was below poor.  I'm being honest here and the chicken was way over cooked.  It seemed to have been sitting under a grill far to long to keep it warm and was dry, tough and didn't taste very middle eastern. Frankly, a rotisserie chicken from Coles would have been substantially nicer.

The tabouli too didn't seem quite right.  Maybe it was prepared too early or it required more parsley or lemon.  Whatever the case it wasn't great.

What to make of Feddish?  Well, I am hoping we made it to Feddish on a bad day.  This happens to be one of my most disappointing dining experiences in Melbourne.  Diner beware.
