Yummie Yum Cha - Review - 189/193 Barkly Street, Footscray VIC 3011

Yummie Yum Cha (189/193 Barkly Street, Footscray VIC 3011) has an interesting name. Perhaps enticing or could it be misleading?  Read on to find out. 

Yummie Yum Cha kind of looks like your typical Chinese restaurants albeit probably more upmarket than a lot.  Its modern looking and even has a bit of character.

You can tell you're going to yum cha with these kind of condiments at the table.

I always like restaurants that have a fish tank. It's nice just to have something to look at and relax the mind. 

As to the food, yum cha is yum cha. Do you get exceptional yum cha?  Well, yes but not very often. Its usually more of a case of not bad, it meets the spot or its what you expect. It's just not that kind of food.

As to Yummie Yum Cha, well it definitely falls into the okay category and only just.  One important element of yum cha is that it needs to be hot.  It's just not that enjoyable when its not piping hot.  Unfortunately, Yummie Yum Cha needs to steam its food to a higher temperature.  Especially so when it isn't even that busy.  I can excuse a place when its busy but it certainly wasn't the case when I was there.  

As to flavour, well, Yummie Yum Cha is middle of the road.  It's definitely in the okay just category only.  Despite that, I am willing to give them another go even if it happens to be in 1-2 years time.  Yum cha is like that.  It's kind of comfort food.
