Red Silks - Review - Shop 101, 1st Floor/200 Bourke Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

Red Silks is a Asian restaurant in the heart of Melbourne.  It is upstairs though so you will have to do a bit of seeking out.

Red Silks

Red Silks has pretty extensive menu and is attractively laid out with a bit of hipster vibe in its design (not really in clientelle but I could be wrong).

Red Silks

Overall, I would say that Red Silks is in the upper echelon of Asian restaurants in the CBD.  All the food is generally of good or excellent quality and as mentioned, its extensive menu is a real plus that sets it apart.

Red Silks
Salt and pepper tofu
Red Silks isn't really a Chinese restaurant.  Its more East Asian or East Asian fusion.  Personally, this is a nice style of food and does mean you can stay clear of some of the over Westernised dishes you get in some Chinese restaurants.

Red Silks
Kunpochilli sauce chicken with vegetables
As you can see, there is a good variety of food and they are all attractively presented.

Red Silks
Malaysian mami spare ribs
I am happy to say that I have been to Red Silks a few times and it is a good budget restaurant.  Now I am not comparing this to the ubiquitous budget Chinese restaurant just restaurants in general.  Never the less you shouldn't be breaking the bank but will be enjoying good quality food and a nice dining environment.
