Pipers By The Lake - Review - 403 Wendouree Pde, Ballarat

Pipers By The Lake has a prominent and desirable spot by Lake Wendouree.  Pipers By The Lake is on the far side of the lake and makes a perfect spot to have lunch or dinner on a weekend away.
Pipers By The Lake is certainly known by the locals and gets pretty busy.  To avoid disappointment I would suggest booking ahead if time is precious.  Pipers is out by itself so if its full you have to try and find dining establishments on the other side of the lake.

The pasta really was a standout.  This tasted really great is definitely above the standard of quite a lot of restaurants.  I've had my share of prawn or seafood marinara and this was good.

Okay, a burger and fries probably doesn't sound that exciting but burger places are just so trendy now.  Thankfully the days of cardboard like Big Macs are dying out, I wish,  but it does mean that burger standards are just so much higher now days.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the burger but there are certainly other more exciting dishes to choose from at Pipers By The Lake.  It stays true to a pretty much western styled menu with Italian classics, a variety of gourmet pizza, and steak but also includes some interesting fare such as Asian pork belly, beef cheek risotto and Moroccan grilled salmon to name a few.

To sum up, Pipers By The Lake is a good but not outstanding restaurant.  Its definitely worth considering if you are out in Ballarat on a day trip or holiday weekend away.  I should say that the pricing is also very good so that is going to make your weekend away that much sweeter.
