Trunk - Review - Lonsdale St

Trunk Bar and Restaurant (275 Exhibition St, Melbourne VIC 3000) is right on the edge of the cbd proper and visually stands out with its open front courtyard in brick and a retro-ish diner accompanying the main restaurant.  Basically, based on appearances only you can't help but want to try Trunk out.

I haven't been to the main restaurant which based on other peoples comments sounds like it is quite good.  However, the Trunk diner could be regarded as a bit of a letdown.  While its probably nice enough for a coffee and a beer on a bright hot sunny day in general the food and serving size left me and others wanting.

As you see from the shot of the burger it is quite measly and with all the great competition around from the trendy burger establishments the Trunk version has sadly been left out in the cold.  It just doesn't measure up in size or quality. I was disappointed as were others.

To be fair some of the other lunch options were definitely more interesting and tasted pretty good.  However, you wouldn't want to come to Trunk if you were starving otherwise you'll still leave starving or will have to order an additional main or entree to keep you going.
Trunk is nice enough but I was left wanting more.
