Gaggle Of Geese - Cafe Review - Heathcote

Given that Echuca is about three hours away from Melbourne it goes without saying that a pitstop along the way is nice to stretch the legs and get a nice coffee. Heathcote is far enough out of Melbourne to feel like you've earned a break and that it worth stopping. There isn't a lot to see here for the casual tourist but if you like your bushwalking its probably worth a weekend visit. A very short distance away is Mount Ida, so for the curious take a look.

Anyway, when you get to these little towns its nice to try out the local bakery or find a nice little cafe. So today it was time to test out 'A Gaggle Of Geese'. It looks attractive from the outside and houses some toys, craft works, preserves and smelly stuff, if you know what I mean.

The food menu is limited and its really a sandwich cafe with a limited range of drinks, cakes, soup of the day and nacho's thrown into the mix.

It's a welcoming place and if you have children they might be entertained looking at some of the crafts and toys for a while.

For me the coffee was okay. The proprietor was friendly and nice to chat too so that homely country feel was there so for that it passes the test of what you want from a country cafe.

If you are desperate for a wider selection of food though I suggest you try elsewhere.
