Ajisen Ramen - Restaurant Review - Melbourne CBD

Ajisen Ramen (130 Bourke Street, Melbourne VIC 3000) is part of a Japanese chain restaurant.  It also happens to have been recommended by TripAdvisor but are they really a reliable authority in dining?

A great thing about Ajisen Ramen is that they have such a wide selection of food.  They kind of have everything which is great as some Japanese restaurants seem to have a very limited menu.

Ajisen Ramen is also pretty budget oriented so its great that they can offer such a wide array of food at fair to low prices.  All good so far.

Most of us like dining in a place that has a bit of a vibe.  Ajisen Ramen is definitely popular with the younger crowd, probably attracted by its fair pricing and overall good quality food.
Curiously, Ajisen Ramen is recommended by TripAdvisor.  As a budget option, with a great variety of food this makes sense.  However, if you've traveled across the world to Melbourne I personally wouldn't be adding Ajisen Ramen to my must see dining experiences.
Renkon Chips
Renkon Chips
Renkon chips comprise of lotus root sliced and deep fried with green tea salt.  Essentially it is an Eastern vbersion of the potato chip although lighter in texture.  A nice little dish if you like chips.

Well, I am a bit addicted to katsu don.  Be aware that this is pork but if that's not your cup of tea there is plenty of other ramen on the menu.  You certainly won't be starving.  Basically everything tastes good at Ajisen Ramen.  I wouldn't necessarily say excellent but in general terms you would have to be very fussy not to enjoy your meal or they are just having bad day.

The ramen served with deep fried chicken (karaage), egg and mixed vegetables.  This is another Japanese classic.  In a nutshell karaage chicken is crispy fried chicken marinated in soy and ginger. Okay, it sounds simple but it tastes divine.
