Cafe Alcaston - Review - Collins St (Melb CBD)

Cafe Alcaston (2 Collins St, Melbourne VIC 3000) is a nice cafe in the Melbourne CBD. Situated at the corner of Spring St and Collins St it won't be central to everyone but if you are in the vicinity it's a nice cafe.

Keep in mind that Cafe Alcaston is in a very CBD and corporate oriented location.  I think that within its confines, Cafe Alcaston manages to be quite cool.  Certainly not hipster cool but definitely above run of the mill.

As far as the food goes, it's pretty good, above average although probably not exceptional.  For a cafe this still is pretty nice and given that's it's in such a corporate location I'm still happy.

I like Cafe Alcaston although in the coolness stakes it will never reign supreme.  For a brekky or bite to eat at lunch time it is nice enough.  Because it is quite small, its nice and intimate and this adds to its appeal.

In A Nutshell
Cafe Alcaston is great for something different and for a group function.  However, while its definitely nice to grab something different, I don't think they demand that you come again soon.
