G2 Korean - Restaurant Review - Elizabeth St, CBD

G2 Korean bbq restaurant definitely stands out from the crowd.  Whenever you walk past on Elizabeth St you are left thinking, 'That looks cool, I must go there sometime'.  Anyway, I eventually made my way there as its just so tempting to try G2 out.

As you can see G2 is most definitely a bbq restaurant and those air extractors coming down from the ceiling certainly make a visual impression.

Korean side dishes including the ubiquitous Kim Chi
As with most Korean restaurants your main dish is served with several side dishes.  The most famous being kim chi (kind of chilli spiced Asian cabbage).  There is also pickled white radish (one of my favourites) and sesame oil infused bean sprouts.  Anyway, these are always one of the highlights of Korean food even if they are only a side dish.
The G2 bbq restaurant specialises in bbq'ing of course so while they do have other options on the menu if you aren't going to get the bbq you are most probably going to find the menu restrictive.  In fact, I would not recommend going to the G2 if you weren't having the bbq.
On the bbq you get to select from a variety of set menu's that go upwards in price depending on the cuts of meat you desire.  At the upper end of the scale you will get wagyu beef.

I like the idea of G2 and how it is designed and set up is very attractive.  The food is basically pretty simple, afterall, its a bbq.  With this in mind, G2 seems over priced for what you get.  Its definitely a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience at G2 and the service is top notch.
So taking all things into consideration I like G2 but not enough to recommend it.  If like me you cannot resist G2 because it just looks so interesting its still worth a look.  In the greater scheme of things there are far worse restaurants out there.
