It is a testament to how good Roti road is that it is still busy a few years after opening. It's the human condition in us to seek the the new and shiny and this applies so much to restaurants. When Roti road first opened it was going gangbusters and rightfully so. It's good.
That it is still very busy, especially given it is not at the bust end of Barkly Street shows you how good Roti Road is.
It's namesake, the roti is definitely worth getting. This really is the bargain on the menu. i've been to Roti road a number of times and I'd always recommend getting the roti.
I have to admit that Roti Road isn't one of those super cheap eats or budget restaurants. It's not expensive either. It's just fair pricing. What you do get though is great tasting food and that's is always worth it.
I have to admit they have made a small compromise on the chicken curry to please western customers. They've gone for lean chicken meat rather than chicken on the bone. It is a conscious decision as it used to be on the bone. Unfortunately while this is definitely better for your health it's at a detriment to flavour. I do prefer their old version but such is progress and I guess my heart benefits!
I really like Roti road. They've been so successful they've expanded into Highpoint Shopping Mall. However, the original on Barkly Street in Footscray is still my preferred Roti Road option.
Definitely worth seeking out for a first time visitor to Footscray.
