Le Charme - Review - Attractive French themed

Howie's Melbourne Food Blog

Le Charme is a Chinese styled restaurant with plenty of Cantonese classics. It's quite a small place but thankfully has made a great effort to stand out from the crowd. Hence the name 'Le Charme' suggesting something French inspired.

Le Charme

Personally I really like the look of Le Charme. Le Charme sticks to as said Cantonese inspired classics but does dress up a few to look different. We got the deconstructed soft shell crab. It wasn't really what we expected but a nice surprise never the less.

Crab

While many of the dishes are Cantonese staples it doesn't mean you will find them everywhere so in this sense I really liked Le Charme. I am sure some of the menu while not unique don't appear at every Chinese restaurant. I appreciate being able to get a few different things!

Soup noodles

It must be said that some of the plates are a little worse for wear. I think that some people might be put off by this and fair enough. it does let them down a little given their effort to stand out.

Rice

Anyway, all up I really enjoyed going to Le Charme and recommend it to anyone looking for Chinese a little bit different. No, it's not Flower Drum but it's not trying to be. This is more your classic budget conscious Chinese restaurant that manages to add a bit of style in as well.
