Smith & Daughters is a pretty compact place and can get quite packed. It's nicely set out given its size and I like the decorative back walk that makes it a bit more distinct. The brick feature wall is also pretty cool. It kind of screams hipster doesn't it?
There is also a nice nod to The Smiths (of Meat Is Murder fame) at Smith & Daughters for the sharp eyed fan. Maybe the 'Smith' in their name is some kind of subliminal message? Doubtful but you never know. Anyway, as they trumpet themselves as a vegan haunt I wouldn't be surprised.
The food at Smith & Daughters is obviously very vegan. If you've had a hard night out on Friday I can imagine getting of dose of vegan food on the Saturday will go down quite well. Given this is Brunswick St, this might be quite common place...I jest.
The food in general terms is good without what I call being outstanding. It's all very fresh and certainly looks very attractive yet something without that wow factor. It just seems to be missing something. I'm not vegetarian or vegan so maybe I'm not there target audience. However, if its good it good and I was a bit underwhelmed.
The fritters were quite strange looking. On the menu they sounded great but if you were to look at them they certainly didn't look very enticing.
Again, the donuts like like a good idea when you read the menu. It's a pity they weren't more special. At least there are plenty to share around.

Smith & Daughters
Smith & Daughters is great for something different and for a group function. However, while its definitely nice to grab something different, I don't think they demand that you come again soon. Smith & Daughters are good but not great. Smith & Daughters looks the part, is great for people watching and the food is fresh and looks great. It's just a pity that the food looks better than the flavour it delivers.
