The Imperial Chinese Seafood Restaurant in Glen Waverley (546/554 Waverley Rd, Glen Waverley VIC 3150) is a bit of a mission to get to if you live in the cbd or even beyond. That says something about the quality of the place and you and your friends if you are willing to make the trip. Really , I am not even going to comment on the food other than to say it is good.
Dumplings kind of leave little to the imagination presentation wise and its really up the the quality of the ingredients and making of the dumplings that count. Of course, who you are dining with makes yum cha even more special.
I guess the other consideration is the variety or choice of dumplings that the restaurant offers. On this front you can't go wrong as the Imperial Chinese Seafood Restaurant do seem to have everything covered.
Service is something that can't really be evaluated with most Chinese restaurants. It is what it is. Anyway, the waitresses seem to be coming frequently and all the food was nicely piping hot so all the essentials are covered. I should also say that there were also quite a few westerners here so it seems everyone is beginning to love their yum cha.
This place is packed so bookings are definitely recommended. I wouldn't just rock up here and expect to get a table. This is obviously a good sign.
I have been here a few times which is a testament to its quality. In fact it basically says its very good given I live miles away.
Anyway, as you can see below everyone seems to be be enjoying their yum cha and like I said its very popular.
Even better, if you are a seafood lover they have plenty of fresh seafood available. Okay, they may be in tanks but believe me when I say that given how hard it is to get fresh seas food in Melbourne this is a good sign.
Anyway, all I can say is highly recommended as long as you like yum cha. This kind of food isn't for everyone. Some love it while others are totally indifferent to it.
