Today its off to Cafe Corretto. This is quite an old school type of Italian restaurant. Its looks classic Italian and isn't pretentious in any way. Its certainly not one of the upmarket restaurants so if that's what you are looking for look elsewhere.
It does have outdoor dining and almost all visitors to Lygon Street really desire to be seated outside. Its pleasantly satisfying when the waitress speaks in a thick Italian accent. It just makes the experience seem more authentic.
The pasta marinara is presented nicely and its tasty creamy white wine sauce is reasonably standard. That is to say its good but not spectacular. This isn't a complain but an observation. I don't believe many people would say its the best marinara they've ever had but equally its definitely satisfying. I will say that the serving size is about perfect. Not overwhelmingly large so as to feel bloated.
The Pasta ai Quattro Formaggi (four cheese) fettucine though was kind of similar. Above par and definitely enjoyable but not one of those dishes where you go wow.
The service was impeccable and I give them a triple AAA+. I managed to forget my mobile phone and they managed to actively call my friends and look after my phone. I was a happy chappy to get it back all in one piece.
